About the Municipal Museum

The Uberlândia Municipal Museum operates in the Palácio dos Leões, a beautiful building built between 1916 and 1917, by Cypriano Del Fávero and listed as a Municipal Historical Heritage Site in 1985. In the past, the building housed the City Hall, the City Council and, for a brief period, the library. After its listing, it became part of the Clarimundo Carneiro Square Complex, which also includes the Bandstand. Since 2000, the Museum has presented the long-term exhibition “Our Roots”, which takes a look at the process of formation of the municipality of Uberlândia, from the installation of the first sesmarias to the formation of Arraial de São Pedro de Uberabinha around of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Still in the exhibition space, there is the permanent exhibition “Câmara Municipal: fragments of history” and a room where temporary exhibitions are held.
